Bread Pudding

Wow your guests with bread pudding (just don't tell them how simple it is to prepare).
Ingredients:
  • 6 cups Better White or Oatmeal bread, cubed
  • 2 cups low fat milk
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 egg whites
  • Topping:
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar or brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons chopped pecans
  • 4 tablespoons raisins

Better White Bread has as a soft, smooth texture - without the dough conditioners and artificial preservatives that traditional white breads contain. You like the nutrition, kids like the taste! Baked in a wide pan.

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Arrange cubed bread into a deep casserole dish or 9x13 inch glass pan.
  3. Combine milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon into a medium bowl. Set aside.
  4. Beat eggs and egg whites using a mixer. Add to milk and sugar mixture.
  5. Pour milk/sugar mixture over cubed bread. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  6. Place pudding dish into a larger pan filled with 1" of hot water.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until set.
  8. Remove pan from hot water.
  9. Sprinkle topping mixture over top while still hot.
  10. Serve warm.
