
The American Classic, modified for your health without sacrificing the great taste!
Ingredients:
- Topping:
- 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Flax Complete or other ground flaxseed
- 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
- Crust:
- 3/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 cup expeller pressed canola oil
- 2 tablespoons milk or soy milk
- Filling:
- 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Macintosh, Honey Crisp, or Pink Lady preferred)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Directions:
- Prepare pie crust in medium size bowl by combining all crust ingredients. Mix well using a fork. Press dough into bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie pan.
- In large bowl, combine apples and other filling ingredients. Mix well. Spoon into pie crust.
- Mix topping ingredients together in a small mixing bowl. Crumble on top of apples.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for one hour.
